MEDIA ADVISORY FOR WEDNESDAY, 11 AM ET
WASHINGTON – One week before President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address, care workers across the country will have the opportunity to hear directly from President Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer about the ongoing work to pass a once-in-a-generation care infrastructure proposal. This Wednesday, the Care Can’t Wait Coalition will hold its second annual virtual summit, “Time for Action,” to demand the advancement of a reconciliation package that includes historic investments in childcare, paid leave, and home and community based services. Media interested in covering this event can RSVP here.
This year’s summit will emphasize the urgency of caregiving solutions for working American families. As we continue to recover from the pandemic, lawmakers must come together to support working parents and caregivers, reduce the cost of child care and home care, and support the sustainability and strength of our care workforce.
Hosted by Ai-jen Poo of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Care in Action, and Caring Across Generations, the summit will feature voices from across America, musicians, senior elected leaders, and organizing actions that tell the story of the need and momentum around passing critical policies. President Biden and other speakers will join the summit virtually via pre-recorded remarks. Speaker clips will be available upon request.
