On Monday, February 14th, immigrant rights organizations and communities held A Day without Immigrants/Un Día Sin Inmigrantes actions in AZ, DC, CA, FL, IL, MI, GA, CO, TX, MA, IA, OR, UT, NY, NV, and WA to demand a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. Below are just a few highlights of the actions that domestic workers led:
- In Washington, DC, Dreamers Mothers in Action joined together with other local organizations to host a rally with hundreds of people in front of the White House demanding President Biden deliver citizenship and relief for immigrant communities.
- In the Bay Area, CA, Centro Laboral de Graton, Mujeres Unidas y Activas, and La Colectiva de Mujeres – together with other partner organizations – hosted a rally at the San Francisco Federal Building to demand that President Biden and Congress do everything they can to pass the Build Back Better bill and a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented people now. - In NYC, New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) took over Times Square – together with unions and other partners – to demand citizenship for all.
- In Houston, TX, domestic workers came together with other local immigrant rights organizations at Guadalupe Plaza Park to demand immigration relief for 11 million undocumented people through a pathway to citizenship.
